Health Care Advice

Thumbsucking and Pacifier Use

After permanent teeth come in, thumb and pacifier sucking may cause problems with the proper growth of the mouth and alignment of teeth.

  • The intensity of sucking is a factor that determines whether or not dental problems may result.
  • If children rest their thumbs passively in the mouths, they are less likely to have difficulty than who vigorously suck their thumbs.

  • Root Canal Treatment

Root Canal Treatment is necessary when the pulp (soft tissue inside your teeth containing blood vessels and nerves) becomes inflamed or diseased.

  • During RCT, your dentist removes the diseased pulp and the pulp chamber and root canals are cleaned and sealed.
  • If the infected pulp is not removed, pain and swelling can result and your tooth may have to be removed.

  • Sensitive Teeth

Is the taste of ice cream or a sip of hot coffee sometimes a painful experience for you? Does brushing or flossing make you wince occasionally?

  • If so, you may have sensitive teeth! Possible causes include tooth decay, fractured tooth, worn out enamel/ worn out fillings, gum disease, exposed tooth root.
  • Depending upon the cause, some of the treatment options include de-sensitizing toothpastes, restorations, crowns, inlays, surgical gum grafts, topical fluoride applications etc. Proper oral hygiene is the key to preventing sensitive tooth pain.
